JAMES CICHEWICZ (Sweeney Todd) is President of the Pembroke Pines Theatre of the Performing Arts, Inc., as well as actor, director, and producer. He has numerous, award winning, roles to his credit; Hello Dolly, Fiddler on the Roof and Brigadoon to name a few. He appeared last in Crazy for You, The Scarlet Pimpernel and critically acclaimed, title role, of Jekyll & Hyde, Professor Henry Higgins in My Fair Lady and Sheridan Whiteside in The Man Who Came to Dinner. He dedicates this performance to his great-grandfather, Ralph Sinclair. James is proud to help bring theatre to South Florida and is please with the continued relationship with the City of Pembroke Pines and their support of our expansion to the new River of Grass Performing Arts Center as well as continued productions at Walter C. Young.

CINDY PEARCE (Mrs. Lovett) was born and raised right here in Pembroke Pines. Since then, her life has lead her on such paths as the US Air Force, a degree in Musical Theater, NYC, then finally back to South Florida again. Cindy was last seen as Lucy in You’re A Good Man Charlie Brown and Domina in A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum. Other favorite roles include Winifred in Once Upon A Mattress, Maise in the Boyfriend, Little Red in Into the Woods, as well as featured rolls in The Secret Garden with the Ft Lauderdale Players and The Scarlet Pimpernel with PPTOPA. As always Cindy would like to thank fellow “splinters”- Jarrod, Josh, Bianca, Edmund & Gary, along with new members Rusty, Robin, Ben and Mark for the plethora of laughs and lending an ear when needed. Thanks also go out to Alvin for this wonderful opportunity; her family (especially Mom and Dad) for their never ending love and support, and Michael for being all that she could ever ask for.

MARC LEWIS (Judge Turpin) a long time resident of New York City, and has been told that he arrived from the womb, acting. He doesn’t remember. His professional training began at Age 14 at the Provincetown Playhouse in New York City. He continued to train both as an actor and singer and performed in many classic plays (Shakespeare, Shaw, Coward et al.) He also appeared in musicals such as Camelot, Brigadoon, Music Man, Once Upon a Mattress, How to Succeed, The Sound of Music and the works of Gilbert and Sullivan. His lifetime love of the last led to his eventually meeting Alvin Entin, tonight’s stage director, who is also a lifetime lover of “G & S. At the age of 20, Boris Goldovsky, long the voice of the Metropolitan Opera Broadcasts and one of America’s finest operatic stage directors, hired him as his assistant and became his mentor. Marc was also the first recipient of the National Endowment Grant for Operatic Stage Directors. Besides directing with smaller companies, he worked at the San Francisco Opera and later at the Metropolitan Opera. At the Met, he served as a house stage director working with such stars as Leontyne Price, Joan Sutherland, Placido Domingo, Luciano Pavarotti and Kiri Te Kanawa. He continues to work in New York City as a dramatic coach for singers: Operatic, Broadway, and Popular. In the last decade he began appearing in films and television. He appeared in Angie with Geena Davis & James Gandolfini and Playing By Heart with a large all-star cast including Sean Connery, Gillian Anderson, Angelina Jolie and Ryan Phillipe. He recently completed Three Way Split with Gina Gershon, Domenic Purcell and Ali Lauter, for release in 2004. His voice can be heard in the cartoon series, The Oz Kids and The Itsy Bitsy Spider, and the animated features, The Adventures of Tom Thumb and Thumbelina, The Brave Little Toaster to the Rescue, and The Brave Little Toaster Goes to Mars. At the request of his friend, first time stage director (but long time actor, board member, etc,) Alvin Entin, he is making his PPTOPA debut. Besides thanking ALL the Entins (especially Lois) he would also like to thank everyone associated with this wonderful organization for making his first foray into community theater an exciting and memorable event.

JERRY WEINBERG (Judge Turpin) is pleased to be joining PPTOPA especially in a Sondheim musical. He was last seen in the Mousetrap and Twelve Angry Men. He has been seen locally at Broward Amaturo Theater as Bill Sykes in Oliver, the Kralahom in King and I, Avram in Fiddler on the Roof. He appeared at Hollywood Theatre as Harry Rote in Wait Until Dark and Alfieri in A View from the Bridge. His day job is Vice President-Sales, Merrill Lynch and he thanks Dolly for her understanding of this vocation and avocation.

BIANCA RABORG (Joanna) was most recently seen as Connie Wong in A Chorus Line. This is her third PPTOPA production. She was preciously in Scarlet Pimpernel (Marie understudy) and Jekyll & Hyde (ensemble). She would like to thank Alvin, Rusty, and the rest of the PPTOPA board for giving her this opportunity.

MICHAEL TOROK (Anthony) is appearing in his second show with PPTOPA.  Michael was most recently seen as Charlie Brown in You're A Good Man Charlie Brown.  Favorite roles include Sir Harry, Once Upon A Mattress, El Gallo, The Fantasticks, Arnold, The Boys Next Door, Pilate, Jesus Christ Superstar, and Mr. Webb, Our Town.  After earning his degree in musical theater at the University of Tampa he spent several years working and studying in New York before returning to South Florida last year.  Michael would like to thank all his friends in the cast who were there when he needed some encouragement and understanding.  He is grateful to Ben for helping him out, and would like to thank Cindy for her constant love and support. 

GARY ENTIN (Tobias Raggs) is glad to be doing another PPTOPA show after being with them for almost 10 years. At PPTOPA Gary has done such roles as Tom of Warwick, Camelot, Kurt, Sound of Music, Howard, Inherit the Wind among many others. Other roles include Linus, You're a Good Man Charlie Brown, Jay, Lost in Yonkers, Fox, Gino, and Lumber Jack, Pinochio, Lead Story Teller, Once on This Island. Film credits include Director of two independent films Inn for the Night (Reaction Film Festival, HBO), and Silent Footsteps in which he played a small role as the conscience. Gary would like to thank all the cast members in this show for teaching him a great deal. He would like to specially thank Marc Lewis, Mark Durso, Rusty , Robin , Cindy , Mike , Bianca , Ben ,Josh, Elizabeth, Cherly and Jim Long, and Bernadette Carter. As well as his Dad (who has been his help this show) ,Mom ,and twin brother Edmund aka Mr. Bubbles!

MARK SHESKIN (Tobias/Ensemble) is performing in Sweeney Todd opposite his first month at the University of Miami. He has previously worked backstage at PPTOPA during the productions of Jekyll and Hyde and My Fair Lady. At Boyd Anderson High School, Mark performed in many plays including as Charlie Brown in You're A Good Man, Charlie Brown and as Jack in Into the Woods. He was frequently involved in technical work for Boyd Anderson shows, including directing the one-act play Hard Candy. Mark would like to thank anyone who should be thanked. You know who you are because you are annoyed that you have not been specifically mentioned.

MICHELE PERKINS (Beggar Woman) is happy to be returning to PPTOPA after a long cold year in Boston. She was last seen in the ensemble of Mame in Massachusetts. At PPTOPA she was Sister Margeretta in The Sound of Music, Lady Beaconsfield in Jekyll & Hyde and the superlative Maid #1 in My Fair Lady. She would like to thank her family for putting up with her.

SHANNON MICHAEL PIERCE (Pirelli) was born and raised in the “Country Music Capitol of the World,” Branson, MO. He’s performed since age 5 and shared the stage with Yakov Smirnoff, Tony Orlando, Dorothy Hamill, and Anita Bryant. Shannon has toured nationally with Jekyll & Hyde and Ragtime. Acting, singing, and dancing aren’t his only theatrical talents. He also has a Master of Fine Arts degree in Costume/Scene Design and Construction. This is his first show with PPTOPA and he’s happy to be a part of such a great group of people. Shannon would like to thank all his new Florida friends, Chad, and the love of his life, Lou. All my love!

JOSH HYATT (Beadle Bamford) is excited about performing with PPTOPA  for the fifth time in this amazing musical. He was last seen as Hiram Spane in Bad Habits and in Tomfoolery. His other stage credits include A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum (Pseudolous), My Fair Lady (Harry), The Man Who Came to Dinner (John), The Scarlet Pimpernel (Ozzy) and Crazy for You (Moose). Also, he recently played The Doctor in the movie Silent Footsteps. As always, he would like to thank his friends and family for their support and encouragement and especially his spouse Emilio and grandmother.

BOB MANZA (Fog/Ensemble) comes to Sweeney Todd after performing professionally with “Songs of Broadway” for the past four years. He was Jigger in Carousel, Lt Schrenk in West Side Story Lt. Branigan in Guys and Dolls, Auram in Fiddler on the Roof as well as other roles and chorus. Thanks to my family for their constant support and thanks to Forest Willingham for giving me my first chance to perform.

JOE FERREL (Bird Seller/Ensemble) is excited about being involved with Sweeny Todd. He has been involved in virtually every production of PPTOPA since 1997. Most recently he performed the role of Marcus Lycus in A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum.

ELIZABETH ANNE GARRARD (Mrs. Lovett Understudy/Ensemble) is honored to appear in her third show with PPTOPA. She was previously seen in Inherit the Wind as Rachel Brown and Fiddler on the Roof as Grandma Tzeitel. She studied her BFA in theatre at FSU and FAU where she was privileged to appear alongside Matthew Wright in the repertory production of The Rocky Horror Show, directed by Ron Headrick. Some of Elizabeth’s performance credits include, Mollie Ralston in The Mousetrap, Nancy in Oliver, Lily St. Regis in Annie, Mdme Thenardier in Les Miserables in Concert and Ma Lester in Tobacco Road. She currently resides in Pembroke Pines with her husband David and daughter Skylar, where she works as a tap dance instructor. Elizabeth dedicates this performance to her grandfather, Ralph Renick, who taught her to always follow her dreams and to Alvin for keeping the faith!

CHRISTINA IZQUIERDO (Johanna Understudy/Ensemble) is appearing in her fifth show with PPTOPA. Her credits include The Sound of Music, Inherit the Wind, The Scarlet Pimpernel, and tech work for My Fair Lady and Crazy for You. She is a Junior at Flanagan High School and is a Soprano 1 in the Advanced Chorus and Madrigals. She is really excited about being on stage again and wants to thank her family and friends for their continuous support and love.

BRYAN E MARTINEZ (Anthony Understudy/Ensemble) is 16 years old and currently attends New World School of the Arts for the Vocal Music program. Bryan is thrilled to be in his second performance with PPTOPA. Bryan’s previous credits involve singing Mozart’s Requiem at Carnegie Hall, singing Beethoven’s 9th Symphony with the Russian Symphony Orchestra, and playing the role of Jason in the musical review It’s a Grand Night for Singing. Bryan would like to thank his friends and family for supporting him but above all he would like to thank God for watching over him and for all the blessings he has received.

ROBIN BARSON (Beggar Woman Understudy/Ensemble) is thrilled to be joining PPTOPA for this show. She has been on stage singing and dancing since the age of 4. In recent years she has portrayed Tzeidel in Fiddler on the Roof, Irene Malloy in Hello Dolly, and her all-time favorite, Adelaide in Guys and Dolls. She enjoys working with children’s theater and she directed Fiddler on the Roof-Junior (in 2001). She would like to thank “the Directors” for this opportunity, their friendship, and for making her feel so welcome! She also thanks her wonderfully supportive friends (both new and old) and family, and most of all Gary, Brett, and Jake for their unending love, support, and tolerance for so many nights away from home rehearsing! I am YOUR biggest fan. ILYGBJ!

CHICK CICIO (Ensemble) has been on stage since early childhood. Performed as vocalist in Carnagie Hall, Madison Square Garden, Metropolitan Opera House in NYC, Café society and other nightclubs in and around NY, just to name a few. Chick has been associated with PPTOPA since it's beginning. He has performed in approximately 17 shows, the last being Crazy For You. Thanks to my wife Jennie and others for supporting my dreams.

RICK JONES (Ensemble) was born in Key West and raised in Ft.Lauderdale, where he plans to die. He has been a musician (guitarist and vocals) for 20 years. He loves acting, singing, performing, and animals. Thanks to PPTOPA for more fun!!

KRISTINA VOGTNER (Ensemble) is appearing in her first show with PPTOPA. She is very excited to be in the cast. Kristina has appeared in such shows as You're a Good Man Charlie Brown, Oklahoma, Pippin, and others. She would like to thank her parents, friends, and Sam's mom for driving me to rehearsal.

GORDON M. LEVINE (Ensemble) recently directed The Odd Couple and Arsenic and Old Lace. His favorite roles include Moonface Martin in Anything Goes and Mr. DePinna in You Can’t Take it With You.

APRILROSE MANZA (Ensemble) is 16 years old and is very excited to be doing her first show with PPTOPA. She has recently been seen as Olive in The Odd Couple (female version) King Sextimus in Once Upon a Mattress and Velma in West Side Story. She has traveled throughout Florida performing with the professional theater company Songs of Broadway. She would like to thank her parents for their constant support, Miss Joanne for introducing her to theater and her friends for always being there.

JAY MAXWELL (Ensemble) is an active board member for the past seven years with PPTOPA. Jay is also in charge of advertising for the program and would like to dedicate this show to all the barbers who have the “razors edge”.

DANA FREDEBAUGH (Ensemble) has appeared in community theater production of Inherit the Wind (Mrs. Brady), How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying (chorus) and Fiddler on the Roof (chorus) in Broward county as well as dinner and children’s theater production in the U. S. Virgin Islands, her former home. In her “other” life, she is a professor in early childhood special education at Nova Southeastern University.

LINDA ROBERTS (Ensemble) has performed with PPTOPA for several shows including The Sound of Music (Mother Abbess) Jekyll & Hyde, My Fair Lady, The Scarlet Pimpernel and Crazy for You (Patricia Foder). Some of her favorite past roles include: in Guinevere in Camelot, Mammy Yoakum in Li’l Abner, Mrs. Peterson in Bye, Bye Birdie and Little Red in Into the Woods.

SARAH A WASSERMAN (Ensemble) is currently enrolled in PPCHS going into her Junior year. She is heavily involved in theatre in and out of school. She has appeared in shows such as Once on This Island (Little Timoune) and Peter Pan (Peter Pan). Sweeny Todd will be the first of many shows with PPTOPA for Sarah and she is enthusiastic and ready to work with this amazing group. Keep an eye out for her name in lights!

DOUG HUMBERT (Ensemble) is making his debut performance with PPTOPA and his first venture in live theatre. He is no stranger to performing, however, and in June sang the National Anthem to Florida Marlin fans at Pro Player Stadium. He has appeared at Davie Junction for USA’s Nashville Star and, most recently, on Gimme the Mic. He is a soloist and worship team member at Everglades Community Church. Doug would like to recognize the love and support of his family and to God for the gift of voice which makes this endeavor possible.

SAMANTHA WALSH (Ensemble) is a 16 year old junior at Cooper City High School. This is her first production with PPTOPA, and she hopes to do many more in the future. She has been acting, singing, and dancing since a very young age; and has previously been in Charlie Brown, Schoolhouse Rock, David and Lisa, Pippin, and Oklahoma. She would like to thank her mom and Dan Vogtner for driving her to all the rehearsals, and everyone involved with the show for being so welcoming.

BEN TOROK (Ensemble) Sweeny Todd marks Ben's debut with PPTOPA.  Most recently he has been seen with Gold Coast Opera in The Barber of Seville and Romeo et' Juliet.  Other Favorite shows include The Littlest Mermaid and Fame.  Ben is thankful for this opportunity and  would like to thank his family and friends for their love, laughs and continual support.

TONY PAIGO (Ensemble) is a member of the Board of PPTOPA and also lighting director. He has spent the last 25 years doing a variety of theater related projects. He was last seen in Crazy for You. His credits include Jekyll & Hyde, Guys & Dolls , King & I, Inherit the Wind, 40 Carats, and many more. His favorite role was Jack S Fogbound in Lil’ Abner. He got his start at the University of Florida as their Lighting Director in the 70’s. He would like to thank his wife and children for their love and understanding in this endeavor.

CHRISTINE KAVALAUSKAS (Ensemble) is excited to be joining the amazingly talented cast and crew of Sweeney Todd in her first PPTOPA production. She has been performing since the age of five and has most recently been seen in A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum. Her other credits include Fiddler, Annie, How to Succeed, Trial By Jury, and Suor Angelica. Christine wishes to thank her family and friends for their continued love and support.

CHRISTOPHER SERPA (Ensemble) is a Junior at Flanagan High School. He has been a tech/construction chief for many shows past. Sweeney Todd is his first show with PPTOPA, and it has been a great experience. With competition in mind, he attends high school thespian events and will be seen next as Maude in Bye Bye Birdie at FHS.

CARLA MARTINEZ (Ensemble) is appearing in her third production with PPTOPA. She is currently studying at FAU as an International Business major and is minoring in Jazz Vocals. She has been involved in the Performing Arts for 10 years and she would like to give thanks to her beautiful family whom she loves very very much for supporting her and loving her immensely. I LOVE YOU GUYS!

JOHN T.G. PERKINS (Ensemble) is John’s first musical and show with PPTOPA. Previously, John has appeared in Say Goodnight, Gracie and has done crew & prosethetic make-up for BCC’s Smash and Rhinoceros, where he is a theatre major. John would like to thank the cast & crew, Ananga, D. Sanchez, M. Williams, M. Perkins, D. Perkins and a special thanks to Nukedu for rising from the ashes once again.

DR. HOWARD M HOROWITZ (Artistic Consultant) is a NYC native who acquires his love of musical theater by attending Broadway in his formative years. Howard is a dedicated student of the works of Steven Sondheim and a confessed Sweeney Todd-a-holic. A non-practicing dentist and owner, with his wife Carol, of an audio/video home theater retail shop in Deerfield Beach. Howard is delighted to have assisted this wonderful community theater company with this creative milestone.

MICHAEL DAY (Musical Director) is a graduate of the McGill University with a degree in composition and performance.  He has directed the Montreal Opera Society, Show Band for Celebrity Cruises and has traveled Europe with orchestra and jazz ensembles.  Locally, he has directed music in liturgical settings and clubs as a soloist and with an ensemble.  He currently teach music in a Dade County private school.

RUSTY ALLISON (Assistant Director/Sweeney Understudy) is thrilled to play this remarkable role with the dedicated cast and crew. Thanks to all the cast for their extreme hard work and patience with Alvin, James, and myself. A recent addition to the PPTOPA board, Rusty would like to thank his friends and family for their support. Now, sit back, and "Attend the tale of Sweeney Todd..."

ALVIN E. ENTIN (Director) is Chairman of the Board of PPTOPA, and proud to be making his directorial debut with this production of Stephen Sondheim’s masterwork , Sweeney Todd. Alvin has entertained and delighted audiences with his performances as Pellinore in Camelot, Col. Pickering in My Fair Lady and Sheridan Whiteside in The Man Who Came to Dinner. He has also appeared in Fiddler on the Roof, Guys & Dolls, You Can’t Take it With You, How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying, Anything Goes, Li’l Abner, Jekyll & Hyde, Crazy for You, and The Scarlet Pimpernel. Alvin is grateful for the support of the creative team in this production and thanks again James Cichewicz, Rusty Allison, Florence Andrews, Howard Horowitz, Stacey Cichewicz and Michael Day for their great contribution to the success of this show. Also, Alvin wants to thank the cast of this production working hard and sharing their great talents with PPTOPA and its audience. Thanks must also be give to Cindy and Tanya who never knew that their job description included making copies and stuffing mailers for PPTOPA. Most of all, Alvin wants to thank his wife Lois who was not only the prettiest chorus girl in Crazy for You, but whose sage advice and patience has made it possible for him to direct this show to completion without being committed to Fogg’s Lunatic Asylum.
